Red Bull Drift Shifters Course

Virtual 3D images of the course layout for Red Bull Drift Shifters, Saturday 8 December at Victoria Street West, have been released. The images give a good idea of how the course will look like at the event next weekend. The participating drift drivers from New Zealand, Japan, USA and Sweden will definitely have their work cut out for them on the course at Red Bull Drift Shifters next weekend

Proximity sensors have been attached to the pin ball styled obstacle course and has been tested with huge success. “It’s finally coming together”, says Mad Mike Whiddett, the brain behind Red Bull Drift Shifters. “Now that the course has been built, and the sensors are working, you can really see it taking shape. The drivers are going to have to be really on their game to get through this course successfully”.

The proximity sensors measure how fast and close the drivers are to each of the obstacles. And like a pin ball machine; the closer they get, the more points they get. Points will be tallied instantly and displayed on a big screen so the crowd can see their final score as they freestyle round the course. Each of the 12 drivers will enter one at a time against the clock through the course, with the best precision drift car driver being rewarded.

Drift Shifters is a free spectator event on Saturday 8 December. Race action is from 12-3pm, Victoria Street West.
